What does the new law require? Regulation
on the hygiene of foodstuffs Applied from the 1st January 2006. It
replaces the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995. All
food businesses must implement food safety management procedures based on
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles (HACCP). Flexibility
allowed for small businesses which SFBB used. No
requirement for any specific system. The
law also requires that food handlers must be supervised and instructed and/or
trained in food hygiene matters Commensurate
with their work activity. Those
responsible for the development
and maintenance of the HACCP system or the operation of the relevant guides
must receive adequate training in the application of the HACCP
principles. This workshop forms part
of this training. |

What is SFBB? It is
a toolkit for small businesses to help them prove that they are maintaining a
Food Safety Management
System based on the principles of HACCP. SFBB
is flexible and can be adapted to meet business needs. It will also help you comply with the law
but it is not the only food safety management system. With
some modification it can be used in medium sized businesses. Q.
