CIEH Level 2 Award in Nutition Awareness

New Course for 2006

The Government’s recent review and subsequent ban on junk food in schools, highlights the growing emphasis on nutrition as part of good practice in food preparation.

With obesity levels rising and the number of people with intolerance and allergies growing, it is vital that those working in catering understand how to amend their food preparation accordingly.

This new CIEH qualification will provide candidates with a good basic understanding of nutrition to enable them to supply food that meets the requirements of a balanced diet.  The qualification provides an introduction to nutrition and focuses on six key areas, including the balance of good health, dietary requirements of different groups and labelling.  Study aids will focus on nutrition in catering and guide candidates in applying knowledge of nutrition, to improve the quality of the food they prepare and serve.
